Jon Bauer and Newworldson Lead 2012 Covenant Award Nominations

Worship Leader Jon Bauer and Niagara-area based roots band Newworldson are the leading contenders for GMA Canada's 2012 Covenant Awards.
Bauer, from St. Albert, Alberta, received 10 nominations in ceremonies held Tuesday, September 25th at the CTS broadcast facilities in Burlington, Ontario. Newworldson, whose pop-fusion sound have garnered them both critical acclaim and radio airplay across North America, were one notch behind with nine nominations.
Downhere and Manafest are nominated seven times each (eight for Downhere if you include lead singer Marc Martel's nomination for Male Vocalist Of The Year) with Starfield and The City Harmonic snagging six considerations each.
The 2012 Covenant Awards will be held Wednesday, November 7th at the CTS studios in Burlington, and will be broadcast for the first time in GMA Canada history. The awards are all part of GMA Canada Week which begins on Tuesday, November 4th with the UCB Radio Talent Search Contest and GMA Worship Night featuring Ben Cantelon, Dan Bremnes and Joshua Seller. Artist workshops and showcases will be held on November 5th and 6th. Downhere will cap off the week's showcases with their farewell concert on the night of the 6th.
Other highlights of the week will include the Blessings Fan Choice Award, which can be voted on by the public at www.gmacanada.ca and the Scott's Parable Canadian Gospel Music Song Hall Of Fame, which will induct five songs in its inaugural year. The awards evening will also feature a special tribute to the Toronto Mass Choir who will be honoured with the 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award.
