Return to Article List Owl City Releases The Midsummer Station Today To Widespread Acclaim Posted: Tuesday August 21st, 2012

International pop star Adam Young, a.k.a. Owl City, releases his newest project, The Midsummer Station, today via Universal Republic amid an outpouring of praise and support from media and fans alike. In addition to debuting at no. 1 on iTunes® in the U.S., Young also boasts another feat today: the Owl City mastermind also mixed the no. 2 album, Dispatch's Circles Around the Sun.
Join Adam Young for an exclusive full album listening party today, August 21st at 4:00 p.m. EDT by clicking here, and follow @itunesmusic and @owlcity on Twitter for an exclusive Twitter interview today, August 21st at 6:00 PM EDT.
The album's lead single at Christian radio, "Shooting Star", climbed to no. 6 on the CHR chart this week, with 15 out of 18 stations now spinning the song.
Here's just a bit of what critics are already saying about The Midsummer Station...
"Midsummer Station spins the hits and pure pop confection. It's the stuff of teenage abandon that pulls even parents into windows-down, full-blast sing-alongs... the collection is crisp, clean, anti-cynical. Credit that to Young's Christian faith - subtle but foundational to encouragement anthems ("Dreams and Disasters," "Gold"). Like the love it exudes, Midsummer Station always endures, believes and, most of all, hopes." Christianity Today
"Adam Young branches out from his usual one-man show to enlist the help of co-writers and outside producers for the first time -- and the gamble pays off... The kids will go crazy for the peppy, Glee-ready track "Good Time," a duet with Carly Rae Jepsen, but the album overall remains true to the synth-driven, melodic pop sound that won Owl City fans in the first place." Rhapsody
"Collaborations and genre-crossing have produced one of the most distinct Owl City records to date, with a little something for everyone to enjoy. Honest, heart-on-your-sleeve lyrics give us a glimpse at the real Young." Indie Vision Music
"... There's plenty of assertive songwriting smarts and fist-pumping choruses at every turn." CCM
"If you wrote off Owl City as a one-hit wonder after 2009's Fireflies, it's time to break out the eraser. Teaming with Carly Rae Jepsen has given the blithe synth-pop act a late-summer earworm in 'Good Time' - a track, by the way, recorded before Jepsen took over the airwaves with 'Call Me Maybe'." USA Today
