When it came to writing the first single "Shooting Star", Owl City enlisted his friend Matt Thiessen (Relient K), Stargate (Rihanna, Wiz Khalifa), and the team of Josh Crosby, Nate Campany and Emily Wright (the latter known for her work with Dr. Luke). Seeking out co-writers and outside producers for the first time is something new for Owl City and he embraced the opportunity for the new album. This openness to working with others came after several very positive collaborating experiences including songs with Paul Van Dyke ("Eternity"), Armin van Buuren ("Youtopia"), and He Is We ("All About Us") as well as a desire to grow as an artist.
"After four years of writing music, making records, meeting new people and performing live around the world, my relationship with God is still what gets me out of bed in the morning," he says. "God has called me to do what I do and create the music I create so that I may shed a bit of light into the world and perhaps paint a picture of His unfailing love. It's been a roller coaster of a ride, but after every unexpected twist or turn, I am only made stronger because of the grip I have on the hand of my Creator."
As "Shooting Star" makes its way to radio, fans discover new songs via the Shooting Star EP and Owl City gears up for the release of his full-length studio album this Summer, the band will embark on a short North American promo tour. The trek has Owl City playing intimate venues in most stops along the way. Confirmed dates below and for ticket pre-sale details please visit www.owlcitymusic.com.
