Publish Date: Feb 07, 2007

  • “Revolution” is defined in Webster’s dictionary as “the motion of any figure around a center or axis.”
  • “Worship” is the axis center-point of a tour that’s emerging as one of the spring’s most anticipated eventswith concert goers.

The Worship Revolution Tour launches in mid-March, bringing together a mix ofartists passionately committed individually and collectively to international touring, bold ministry outreach, and theology rich music that rocks.

Australian-born Grammy® winner Rebecca St. James will share the stage with England’s most popular Christian rock band, Delirious? in a combination that brings the global impact of Christian music into sharp focus. Joining the bill is EMI-Sparrow’sgiftedsinger/songwriter Vicky Beeching, also from the UK, and considered a major new young voice emerging in worship music.

Delirious? will cross the ocean to perform songs from its most recent, five-star rated DVD-CD, Now Is The Time: Live At Willow Creek. The recording has been compared in quality to productions by U2 and Coldplay and carries on the band’s tradition of globally relevant music. In fact, Delirious? is considered to be the galvanizing force that changed the face of worship internationally, with I Can Sing of Your Love Forever, Did You Feel the Mountains Tremble?, Shout To The North and more modern anthems that are sung in worship services around the world. Known for its compelling live performance, 2006 went on record as the boldest year yet for the fivesome as the band traveled to 25 countries, including Canada, Asia, South America, Africa, Eastern Europe and Australia. Having played live for 13 years with the same band members intact, Delirious? have closed for the Pope in front of a million people in Germany, played for 1.2 million in India, toured with Bon Jovi and Bryan Adams and more. Sometimes the mission Delirious? shares also means tackling the difficult issues. In Our God Reigns featured on the new live recording, the band deals with the subject of social injustice, particularly A.I.D.S., abortion and the constant focus of Western culture on self-improvement and materialism. Traveling the globe to inspire music lovers world wide, Delirious? continues to carry on the tradition inspiration and spiritually challenging lyrics, while pointing people to see the wonders of what God has done for them.

Beginning 2007 with capacity concerts in Australia and New Zealand, Rebecca St. James’ signature lyrics of passion for God have crossed her over the 2 million mark in international record sales, winning both Grammy® and multi-Dove Awards andestablishing her as a major global voice in Christian music. Last month announced as “Best Female Artist of 2007” by Christian flagship publication, CCM Magazine, (a catagory honour she has held for six consecutive years) and repeating the same honor a fourth year with the online community of Christianitytoday.com readers, St. James’ worship based albums such as Worship God and Live Worship have set major high water marks in her music and set the stage for her to be recognized as an artist with a true heart of ministry through worship. Her current album If I Had One Chance To Tell You Something has been critically acclaimed for its’ musical transparency in reaching God through the veil of humanity. Her latest release and first ever CD/DVD in a live concert setting, aLive In Florida, will belaunched on March 20th by EMI /Forefront. In recent months, St. James has taken her music from Africa to Australiasia, adding to the mix a sweeping tour of 12 European countries in just over two weeks. Last spring, just three weeks affter a special appearance for President George Bush and honoured guests at the White House, Rebecca led worship during her concert in the shadow of Moscow’s Red Square.

A new face to many concerts goers will be that of Vicky Beeching. Despite her young years, she is a beautifully gifted, British born, Oxford-educated singer/songwriter who has been writing worship music of incredible depth and spiritual maturity for the past ten years, as heard on her critically acclaimed debut album for EMI-Sparrow, Yesterday, Today, and Forever. Her sophomore album, Painting the Invisible will release in the U.S. on April 3rd.

With a mission statement of ‘bringing a fresh wind of God’ to each concert setting, the Worship Revolution Tour will also include special “break away” conference times with local musicpastors/worship leaders in each tour market. At these pre-concert events to be stagedat the venues, the artists will be available at a seminar-style session, highlighted by discussions of worship, Q&A time, praise and worship, and prayer.

Each artist hopes that each concert will be a refreshing time for those who attend.

Says Rebecca St. James, “One of the things that I hope people will sense on this tour is the unity between those of us onstage in our desire to encounter God and bring them together with us into His presence. I pray that the love of God will be strongly evident and it will be a powerful experience, more than a concert, it will be an experience that will change lives.”

Martin Smith of Delirious? adds, “We need a ‘worship revolution’ every day to remember what it’s all about. Our job as musicians, worship leaders and artists is purely to lift up the name of Jesus and let people see Him for who He is. We want to create an atmosphere in which people can come with their hearts and tell Him that’s He’s amazing.”

Vicky Beeching ends by saying, “Come with a real sense of expectancy. There’s something fresh He wants to do every night, at every location, something very unique and purposeful, as together we lift up His name.”

At this present time, no Canadian dates have been announced for this specific tour but dates are still being added. However, St. James will be appearing at Missionsfest Toronto on March 2nd and she will rejoin Delirious? at YC Alberta in May. Stay tuned to YMZ as we will post details as we receive them.
