Underoath In Toronto June 8th

Publish Date: Jun 01, 2006

Underoath will play the the MOD Club in Toronto on Thursday, June 8th, with doors set to open at 6:00 p.m. This Pre-Party to the Vans Warped Tour 2006 is presented by Solo Mobile.

Their last album They’re Only Chasing Safety was a smash success. The band returns on June 20th with the genre-defying Define The Great Line on Tooth & Nail Records.

Mayhem and melody, catharsis and experimentation, Underoath deftly bring it all together here. Catapulting them far beyond their previous work to create a sound that’s both epic and intimate, Underoath delivers one highlight after another including Casting Such A Thin Shadow, In Regards To Myself, and the haunting first single Writing On The Walls.

“We didn’t want to take the normal approach, with just two guitar tracks, drum tracks, vocal tracks or whatever,” guitarist Tim McTague explains about the making of Define The Great Line. “We made an effort to expand in our minds what Underoath could do.”

The disc was crafted with the help of Atlanta-based producer/drummer Matt Goldman, who helped pour the rhythmic foundation and Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz, who lent his experience to help capture the guitars and vocals and encouraged these Vans Warped Tour veterans to use E-Bows, reel bows and experiment with delays and effects pedals. As a result, Define The Great Line, while marking an artistically dark turn for the band, remains undeniably accessible.

“I like how broad a description it is,” says lead vocalist Spencer Chamberlain about the album’s title. Define The Great Line can be interpreted so many different ways. It’s just an imaginary line that I try to balance myself on to be the best person I can be.”

The album releases to Christian retailers on June 20th across Canada.
