From the producers of CMT’s hit series “Gone Country” is the unique new home renovation show “Mobile Home Disaster”, which premiered May 16th. In it’s 6th episode of the season, which airs for the first time tonight (see details below), the show focuses on the Talcott family, whose favourite band is Skillet. Each of the kids were given a special Skillet gift package at the close of the show and then on top of that, were taken to see Skillet perform live and meet the band back stage at The Spirit West Coast festival in Del Mar, CA this past May.
About the Talcotts:
Bonnie Talcott bought what she could afford – a mobile home in Thousand Oaks, California, but it’s tough because there is a real lack of space. Bonnie’s daughter doesn’t have her own bedroom. She shares a bed with her mother. Like their mom, the Talcott kids are passionate about giving back to the community. They work with foster care kids and participate in church youth group activities. All of the Talcott’s sing, and one of Bonnie’s dreams is to become the real Partridge Family and travel the country singing Christian music.
About the show:
Hosted by comedian John Caparulo, Mobile Home Disaster finds deserving families that are living in less than desirable mobile homes and gives them the home makeover that they so desperately need. With help from the accomplished Home Disaster Team including Lori-Lynn Lively, Joe DeRobbio and Kyle Carlson, they use their expertise to revamp these houses on wheels into beautiful trailer park palaces. The eight one-hour episode series provides families with the opportunity to have the mobile home makeover of a lifetime. Each week Caparulo and the Mobile Home Disaster team will surprise needy families with a chance to start fresh and have a mobile-home facelift. They will skillfully update the rundown trailers with updated appliances, new design elements and furniture that is comfortable, yet stylish.
About Skillet:
Dove Award Artist of the Year nominee Skillet’s explosive 2006 Lava/Atlantic/Ardent/INO Records GRAMMY®-nominated release, Comatose follows 2004’s Collide, which launched the group into the public eye and garnered the band their first prestigious Grammy nomination. A critical fave, Comatose has become their best-selling project to date, doubling the sales of Collide in half the time. In follow up to packed out headline club shows, a tour with FlyLeaf, and summer festivals Skillet spent last fall opening for mainstream rockers Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace. In the process of becoming one of the hardest working, most rocking, and broadly appealing acts of its generation, radio welcomed Comatose with open arms, as the first single, “Rebirthing” spent seven-weeks at No.1 on Christian Rock. Their second single, “The Last Night”, also took the top spot, this time at both Rock and CHR (CRW/R&R), while “The Older I Get” (CHR/Rock) and “Comatose”, which received a 2008 GMA Dove Award for Rock Song of the Year, became their third and fourth consecutive No. 1 singles. Currently “Those Nights” is top 5 and climbing quickly at CHR. At the end of 2007 the band was lauded with R&R’s No. 1 Christian CHR Song of the Year for “The Last Night”, which was also R&R’s No. 2 Christian Rock song of the year. In addition, Skillet was named 2007s No. 2 top artist on both the CHR and ROCK year end lists.
