This week’s premieres features the latest from a poignant singer-songwriter and those fun-loving punk rockers from Bremerton, WA.
Todd Agnew continues to showcase his poignant songwriting skills with Better Questions. This project takes the listener on a very deliberate journey, wrestling with the idea that our questioning does not minimize our experience of God, but rather enhances our relationship with Him.
Featuring epic songs like Peace On Earth, asking whether or not it’s possible to live in harmony, Martyr’s Song, focusing on what happens when we die and Still Has A Hold, which contemplates how God can hold on to us even when we can’t hold on to him. These songs drive us to our knees before an unknowable God who made Himself known to us.
The first single from the album is the Fernando Ortega and Mac Powell-penned Our Great God, a duet with Rebecca St. James.
Limited Edition CD/DVD combo includes a DVD featuring the World Vision documentary of Todd in Africa, the documentary of the complete recording process for Still Has A Hold; road community behind the scenes segment, studio behind the scenes segment, and a song discussion segment.
Coming full circle in their illustrious career, MxPx has rejoined forces with Tooth and Nail Records after over 10 years since their first release. The return to their roots promises to be an invigorating release that will be a capstone on who MxPx was, and show to the world what this band has become.
Secret Weapon has something for everyone, the fun, fast pop-punk we all love about MxPx, as well as a more artistic and progressive angle that shows the bands immense talent and skills. Guitarist Brian Baker (Bad Religion) contributes to the album opener/title track, while singer Tim Pagnotta (Sugarcult) can be heard on Shut It Down. Former Superdrag frontman John Davis helps with piano and backing vocals on Sad Sad Song.
The Special Edition CD/DVD includes three bonus tracks and the “making of” DVD.
Better Questions will be specially priced at $17.99 or less while Secret Weapon will be spotlight priced at $17.99 or less at participating Canadian Christian retailers. Head over to HearItFirst.ca to hear these upcoming releases.
