Tooth & Nail Records’ Canadian rockers Thousand Foot Krutch and their newest studio album The Flame in All of Us are receiving acclaim from the media as the project bowed last week placing them on the Billboard Top 200 chart (No. 58) and Billboard Top Christian Albums (No. 2). The debut rock single Falls Apart remains strong for the second week in a row at the top. The CHR single What Do We Know? continues to climb the Top 10 with three additional adds this week nearly claiming the entire CHR panel.
Producer Ken Andrews (Chris Cornell, Pete Yorn, Tenacious D) was enlisted to string together the cleverly written project, which was recorded in a mere three weeks time. Making this release refreshing is a central theme of unification throughout beginning with its title and opening track, The Flame in All of Us. An ambitious rocker elevated by a stop-in-your-tracks chorus featuring strings and a softer melody that refers to the common thread we have in human nature asking the same core group of questions: Who am I? Why am I here? What is life really all about?
Continuing with the theme of asking questions is the first CHR single, What Do We Know? which should be a landmark song for Thousand Foot Krutch. Easily accessible, it’s a “What’s Going On” type of sing-along anthem for the postmodern world that is equally haunting and hopeful in its memorable use of a children’s choir.
Thousand Foot Krutch features lead vocalist Trevor McNevan, his childhood friend Joel Bruyere on bass guitar, and drummer Steve Augustine. The Toronto, Canada natives have sold more than 450,000 copies to date of their albums Set It Off, Phenomenon, and The Art Of Breaking. Thousand Foot Krutch broke out with their 2003 Phenomenon album, which landed them an impressive six No. 1 songs on rock radio and even a step into the mainstream with songs Rawkfist from Phenomenon and Move from Art of Breaking. It was Rawkfist that became the first great sports anthem of the 21st century being heard everywhere from sports stadiums to commercials (NHL, NFL and major league baseball, ESPN) to the CW/A Channel’s Smallville.
Thousand Foot Krutch is currently out on the road with TobyMac and BarlowGirl.
The media are loving “The Flame in All of Us”. Here is what they have to say:
“Good news for McNevan & Co. is that they continue to establish themselves as one of faith-fueled rock’s legitimate players.”
CCM Magazine
“Back with a fourth album of aggressive but melodic rawk, popular Canadian band Thousand Foot Krutch tackles real life head-on. ‘The Flame In All Of Us’ addresses issues portraying the meeting of raw humanity with melodious grace in thirteen straightforward original tracks.”
ChristianMusic.Suite101.com
”... thanks to greater personal investment in the songwriting and a catchier retooled rock sound, ‘The Flame in All of Us’ marks a bright new chapter for Thousand Foot Krutch.”
ChristianMusicToday.com
“Following the awards they received in 2005 for The Art of Breaking and its height at number 67 on the Billboard charts, Trevor McNevan (lead vocals,) Steve Augustine (drums) and Joel Bruyere (bass/backup vocals) provide a sonic blast of faith-inflected songs that will certainly garner the same attention.”
HollywoodJesus.com
“With experimental vocal inflections plus a wrestling sound musically that keeps you guessing, The Flame In All of Us burns bright and strong.”
