Atlanta-based rock band Third Day, is leaning into the holiday season early this year as it readies for the release of Christmas Offerings, the band’s first Christmas record and the anticipated next installment of its platinum Offerings worship series.
The 13-song album delivers nine Christmas classics and four original songs written by the band. The recording process itself was also unique. While several tracks were recorded in a traditional manner, many tracks were recorded live in the studio and backed by a live audience during an intimate theatre recording session at Nickel and Dime studios in the band’s hometown.
“The Offerings records are a special part of who we are as a band; we started the series for our fans and we’ve wanted to do one reflecting the hope of Christmas for a while now. Because Offerings is about worship, this particular song collection reflects one of the most special times of the year. The experience of worshiping and singing classic Christmas songs together really brought to mind the heart of what Christmas is all about – even in the heat of summer.”
Bassist Tai Anderson adds, “We’ve already had an amazing year in 2006. So many fans have shared stories with us of how Wherever You Are and the Wherever You Are tour have offered them much needed encouragement. I’m so glad that we can cap off this year by releasing this collection of great music to celebrate the Christmas season.”
Christmas Offerings is produced by Third Day (along with help from producer/engineer Don McCollister) and will likely become this year’s most impactful Christmas album and a favourite for years to come.
Tentative songs, titles and sequence, all subject to change, are listed below:
Following the successful launch of the already RIAA Gold Wherever You Are album, the band celebrated being consistently ranked as one of the Top 25 grossing tours this spring. Third Day will perform at several Christian music festivals this summer including Creation West (George, WA) and Sonshine Festival (Willmar, MN), Soulfest (Gilford, NH), Kingdom Bound (Darien Lake, NY), all within a few hours drive for the Canadian border, as it readies for the fall leg of the Wherever You Are tour.
