During Tuesday’s night American Idol competition, finalist David Cook chose Switchfoot’s “Dare You To Move” as one of his songs to perform during the live telecast.

The evening featured the finalists singing three songs, the first picked by an Idol judge, the second selected by the finalist, and the third chosen by the show’s producers. “Dare You To Move” was Cook’s personal song choice.
After the performance, judge Randy Jackson said that it was a “great, great song choice” but performance-wise, it was “not his best”. Paula Abdul felt that shortening that song to three minutes did not do the song justice and made one wanting more. Simon Cowell said that the performance was okay but after Cook’s final performance of the evening said, “And David Cook wins the night.”
“Dare You To Move” is taken from Switchfoot’s 2002 release The Beautiful Letdown. Later on Wednesday night, Switchfoot made an appearance on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno where they performed “This Is Home”, the lead single from The Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian Original Soundtrack. The soundtrack arrived at Canadian Christian retailers this week and the movie will hit the silver screen this Friday.
