Steven Curtis Chapman Among Nominees For Beliefnet’s Most Inspiring Person Of The Year

Publish Date: Nov 26, 2008

Beliefnet has chosen 10 nominees for the Most Inspiring Person of the Year 2008 Award. We need your help in choosing the final winner. Included in this list is Steven Curtis Chapman.

Beliefnet’s Kimberly Winston writes, “Chapman is nominated as one of the year’s Most Inspiring People for living out his faith in the face of a horrible tragedy, becoming a standard bearer for others whose faith sustains them through horrors they could never have contemplated.”

The article goes on to say that ”(Chapman) has been an international spokesperson for World Vision, a Christian relief organization that focuses on children, and for Project Restore, a program aiding in the recovery of the Gulf Coast from Hurricane Katrina. He spoke about the problem of school shootings after his own high school in Paducah, Ky., experienced such a shooting, and he has traveled to Africa to draw attention to the plight of Ugandan street children.”

Other nominees include Christina Applegate, Halima Bashir, the Boy Scouts who assisted fellow scouts after a tornado struck their camp, William “Spanky” Gibson, Darin Headrick, Randy Pausch, Dara Torres, Jill Bolte Taylor, and Paul Newman.

You may vote once each day for your favourite candidate here. Voting will end on December 5th.
