GMA Canada Covenant Award-winning artists, Starfield, are joining fellow Canadians hungry for the presence of God by setting hope in motion on the I WILL GO Tour, the band’s first major cross Canada tour since 2006.
The tour will be in support of Starfield’s latest album, I Will Go, which will be available at Canadian Christian retailers via Sparrow Records on March 25th. Recorded in the Fall of 2007 at studios in Nashville, TN and in their home town of Abbotsford, BC, songs on the album include the title track “I Will Go”, “From The Corners Of The Earth”, “Reign In Us”, “Holy Is Our God”, and an adaptation of Hillsong United’s “Hosanna”.
“We couldn’t be more excited about bringing this tour to Canada”, says lead-singer, Tim Neufeld. “This is the most ambitious tour we’ve ever embarked on, bringing more sound and lighting than ever before. But we’ve also carefully chosen a line-up of artists that will lead to an intimate night of worship and ministry.”
Starfield will be joined on their Canadian tour dates by fellow label-mate, nineteen year old Bethany Dillon who released her third album Waking Up last year. CCM magazine said the project “could be a career album for the still young Bethany Dillon… giving listeners 13 melodic reasons to fall in love with this songstress all over again.” She has contributed songs to such films as The Chronicles of Narnia and Dreamer. In 2005, Dillon received GMA Dove Award nominations for Pop/Contemporary Album (for her self-titled debut release), Female Vocalist and New Artist of the Year.
Inpop Records acoustic duo Shane & Shane, made up of Shane Everett and Shane Barnard, are also gearing up to hit the road in Canada with Starfield. The Texas-born musicians met in the late 90’s at their church in Killeen, Texas and have performed with the David Crowder*Band, Mat Kearney and at the popular Passion conferences since inking a record deal with Inpop in 2001. Their latest release, Pages, has been called “soulful and soothing, intimate and inspiring, Shane and Shane’s newest release, Pages, sends you running to Jesus with your whole heart” by CBN.com.
In 2007, speaker and author David Nasser released his book Glory Revealed: How The Invisible God Makes Himself Known. The book inspired popular musicians like Brian Littrell and Third Day’s Mac Powell to record the Word of God to music in the compilation Glory Revealed: The Word Of God In Worship. Nasser has a powerful testimony of fleeing Iran with his family during the revolution of 1979 and coming to the United States, leading to his salvation and entrance into ministry at the age of eighteen. He communicates a life-changing gospel to more than 700,000 people each year, and this will be his second tour across Canada with Starfield.
An important part of the tour is the partnership between Unite Productions, Starfield and the Billy Graham Evangelical Association who will be providing counselling and follow up for those attending the I WILL GO tour. Each night, an invitation will be given for Youth and Young Adults to accept Christ. “We are anticipating 50 to 60 first-time decisions for Christ in each city,” says Tour Promoter Paul Kelly. Unite Productions is also partnering with Canada Fire and the Canadian Bible Society to give a New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs to every concert attendee.
Starfield will also be extending the tour starting in September with a new line up of special guests including speaker Will Graham from the Billy Graham Evangelical Association. The fall extension of the I WILL GO Tour will be a chance for Starfield to reach out to those in smaller Canadian communities with the hope of Christ. Tour dates and special guests will be announced shortly.
