Publish Date: May 30, 2005

Sparrow Records band Starfield recently received its third consecutive Artist of the Year award at the 2005 Shai (formerly Vibe) Awards, held Saturday, May 14th, in Mississauga, Ontario. In addition to this year’s award, the band was honoured in this category in 2004 and received a total of five awards in 2003, including Artist of the Year.

Starfield performed Love Break Me from their self-titled debut during the show. Beyond receiving music honours, Starfield is currently writing songs for the follow-up to its critically acclaimed, self-titled debut. The new album is slated to release in December.

Hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Starfield signed with Sparrow Records last year as one of Canada’s most awarded indie bands. Starfield also recorded the U2 song 40 for last year’s critically acclaimed “In the Name of Love: Artists United for Africa” recording, joining artists Sixpence None The Richer, Audio Adrenaline, tobyMac and others.

You can pick up a copy of Starfield’s self-titled release or the “In the Name of Love: Artists United for Africa” compilation today at a Canadian Christian retailer near you. To find a store in your area visit http://www.cmcstorefinder.com .
