Starfield And The Rubyz Featured On HearItFirst.ca

Publish Date: Mar 21, 2008

This week’s premieres features the Abbotford, BC’s band’s most vertical album to date and the debut of a new t’ween pop act.

Coming off their best radio success thus far in their career, with “Everything Is Beautiful” reaching the Top 5 in CHR formats, Canada’s own Starfield are back again with another fantastic album that’s sure to please.

Inspired by their home congregation, Starfield’s new songs are accessible enough for corporate worship while offering listeners a potent combination of substance and style. The substance turns out to be the theme and title of the record, I Will Go.

Starfield will be performing as part of The NOVA Experience in Toronto in April and will be on tour across Canada with Shane & Shane and Bethany Dillon in April. Visit the YMZ Concert listings for more details.

What do you get when you combine the hot pop vocal stylings of three teenage girls with a powerful message of faith? Allow us to introduce The Rubyz.

The trio, consisting of Cammie Hall (16), Alexis Slifer (14) and Marissa Milele (13), is the brainchild of hit-maker Robert Beeson. Beeson is famed for having found such artists as Leeland, Joy Williams, Third Day and Jars Of Clay.

The Rubyz single, “Thirteen”, challenges teens to take the problems they face and turn them over to God when life gets too hard. Additionally, “Without You”, is a song that emphasizes the decision to walk daily with Christ. The album was produced by Chris Omartian (Hillary Duff, Pink, Jump5) and is one gem certain to shine brightly with teens and parents alike.

Executive Producer Joy Williams recalls, “The concept of the Rubyz was an exciting one and I was on board almost immediately… I remember growing up and wanting songs to sing along to, songs that resonated with me where I was at… in school, dealing with relationships, embracing faith, and realizing who I was in Christ. Because of my own journey, I’ve always had a heart for girls. And being on the road full-time for seven years only highlighted how hungry girls are all over the world for music that speaks to their real-life issues.” She goes on to add, “I am passionate about the Rubyz, about Marisa, Alexis, Cammie, and how this music could encourage girls everywhere.”
