Texas-grown band Spur58 urges listeners to disrupt their pattern of life and start living with eyes wide open on its national debut, Sleepwalkers, in stores Oct. 10th.
Produced by Paul Mills (Jason Morant, Lincoln Brewster, Among Thorns), Sleepwalkers is a powerful, melodic blend of guitars and piano which serves as the backdrop for honest, accessible lyrics. Its title cut projects the album’s tone, which awakens listeners, calling them back to the basics of a love relationship with God.
But Spur58’s brand of music and ministry touches on life’s trials as well triumphs in an effort to present the complete picture.
“Our heart is leading worship, but that doesn’t always mean getting people to sing along,” says frontman Aaron Ivey. “We believe that to lead someone to respond to God, you must show them all aspects of God and life. It’s so easy to instigate the worship thing and get everyone hyped up about how great God is, but sometimes we miss the truth that God is great even in suffering.”
Ivey, guitarists Jimmie Ingram and Chad Martin, Steven Bush on bass and drummer Guy Roberts base themselves in Murfreesboro,Tenn., just southeast of Nashville. When not at home, the band can be found criss-crossing the United States in a van, playing more than 200 dates a year.
The first single from Sleepwalkers will be serviced to Christian Hit Radio on August 11th. In the meantime, Spur58 continues its extensive touring youth ministry, playing back-to-back summer camps. Fall tour plans will be announced shortly. Stay tuned to YMZ for future updates on Sleepwalkers and Canadian tour dates.
