This week’s premieres feature the return of some modern worship pioneers and the debut solo release from the former lead guitarist of KoRn.
Modern worship pioneers SONICFLOOd return with their latest studio release, A Heart Like Yours.
The new album features 10 uplifting praise anthems, centred on changing our hearts to be more like Christ’s and living courageously for Him.
“I love all kinds of sounds and musical styles and I hear those influences on this project – from sombre and reflective to high energy, and everything in between. When we approached the writing for this album, we were like, what’s God revealing to us about ourselves in the light of His majesty and mercy? And then how can we get past our fears of insecurity to really open up and be transparent in writing these songs of adoration? It took more time than we anticipated to finally feel we had all the songs but I believe the waiting will be worth it,” says front-man/bassist Rick Heil.
Brian Welch, better known by his nickname Head, is one of the founding members of KoRn, a multi-platinum, Grammy® Award winning metal band and a major influence in the rise of the heavy metal movement. While with KoRn, Head won two Grammys® and sold over 30 million albums to date.
The album, Save Me From Myself, is an audio testimony of Head’s tumultuous life, as he battled with drug addiction, leaving KoRn and finding God. It features renown musicians such as Tony Levin (Peter Gabriel, Alice Cooper, David Bowie) and Josh Freese (A Perfect Circle, Evanescence, Nine Inch Nails). Mixed by Bob Clearmountain and Ralph Patian, Save Me From Myself is heavy, compelling and inspirational. It’s a rock and roll journey unlike any other.
Head is also a successful author and released a book in July 2007 (Harper Collins). The book, also titled “Save Me From Myself”, spent many weeks on the New York Times Best Sellers List.
Both titles will be arriving at your local Canadian Christian retailer on September 9th. Keep track of all the new and upcoming releases via your own personal copy of the September New Music Tuesday poster. Head over to HearItFirst.ca to hear more from these new releases.
