This week’s premiers include the latest for some synth-pop masters and an album people will be talking about over and over and…
On the heels on a very successful first release, and even more impressive touring history, Ruth returns with their sophomore smash, Anorak (a reference to a person who has an unfathomable interest in something and feels compelled to talk at length about it).
Over the last year the band has lived up to the title and crossed the country multiple times delivering a message through their music. After sharing the stage with the likes of Switchfoot, Relient K and Emery, the band settled in for a few months to record with an acclaimed roster of producers.
Production duties were handled in part by Aaron Sprinkle (Hawk Nelson, Kutless, Anberlin) and the album was mixed by Ken Andrews (Mae, Thousand Foot Krutch) and JR McNeely (Jeremy Camp, Relient K).
Anorak is specially priced at only $12.99 or less at your local Canadian Christian retailer.
For Starflyer 59, longevity and quality go hand-in-hand. Since 1993, Californias finest shoegazers have been churning out lush masterpieces that seem to only improve with time. From albums like Gold (1995) to I Am The Portuguese Blues (2004), the group has remained not only captivating but increasingly innovative as well.
Jason Martin’s haunting vocal display perfectly accompanies the atmospheric mood set by the dreamy guitar lines, creating a sort of glimmering magic that could only come from one of Tooth & Nails most gifted.
Starflyer returns in 2008 with Dial M, one of the most personal and lyrically moving records in the bands history.
With careful attention paid to building lush layered songs around driving rhythmic acoustics and vulnerable lyrics, Dial M has become an instant standout in the Starflyer catalogue.
Both titles are now available at your local Canadian Christian retailer. Keep track of all the new and upcoming releases via your own personal copy of the November New Music Tuesday poster. Head over to HearItFirst.ca to hear more from these new releases.
