Integrity Label Group announces the release of Hiding Place, a new album from Dove Award winning songwriter and worship leader Don Moen. This 12-song CD and accompanying worship resources will be available Canadian Christian retail on October 3rd.
Known for his acclaimed live recording events, Hiding Place marks Moen’s first time recording a full-length studio project. “I love live albums… the energy, the spontaneity,” says Moen whose discography includes 21 albums and career sales of over five million units. “But for this project, I felt that applause would fill up a lot of space that I wanted to leave free for people to ‘steal away’ for a moment. The goal is to create an atmosphere that encourages people to enter into God’s presence and applause isn’t necessary for that to take place. So, I decided to make a change and take an unfamiliar road for Hiding Place.”
Stealing away and seeking his own “hiding place” has become paramount for Moen who, in addition to his own creative pursuits, serves as President of Integrity Music. A husband and father of five, Moen admits that making time to write, lead worship and simply “enjoy His presence” is a challenge. “The songs on this album are very personal to me,” he says. “Even the decision to start the CD with the song ‘Hiding Place’ was out of my own desire to escape the cacophony of noise that is all around us.”
“In a world that is experiencing natural disasters, terrorism and war, there is a place that we can run to for protection,” he continues. “Psalm 32:7 tells us that He is our hiding place, that He will ‘protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.’ I hope that these songs remind people that He is the rock that cannot be shaken, a shelter in the time of storm and a refuge in times of trouble.”
Helmed by Moen’s longtime producing partner David Hamilton, the songs of Hiding Place include new material penned by Moen along with co-writes with Hamilton, Paul Baloche and Claire Cloninger. Moen and Cloninger’s “He Never Sleeps,” a reminder of God’s faithfulness, is the first radio single to be released with servicing to Inspirational and Praise and Worship stations.
Companion worship resources for Hiding Place include tracks, an orchestration, a songbook and a CD-ROM songbook.
Having led worship on six continents, Moen is known throughout the world. His most recent travels took him to Japan, Indonesia and Singapore where he ministered to over 100,000 people in nine cities. This month, he travels to Europe for concerts in England, Norway and The Netherlands. In October, he continues on to South Africa for concerts in Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg and Port Elizabeth.
