Word Records band Remedy Drive has set the standard for all future first-time artists releasing projects at Canadian Christian retailer this year, selling more than 4,500 albums its debut week. The four-brother rock ‘n roll show follows this news with a fall headlining tour, visiting 25 markets through early November.
“The debut week for Remedy Drive represents years of work that the band has put into its ministry, and we are glad that its music and message has resonated with fans,” says Word Entertainment Chief Operating Officer Rod Riley. “We congratulate Remedy Drive on its exceptional debut and look forward to more great things from the band in the months ahead.”
Remedy Drive front-man David Zach adds, “We feel really honoured and humbled that every day a few more people around the country are finding out about this band from Nebraska that’s been making music independently for the last five years. We are excited to take a new album out on the road.”
Remedy Drive will continue to support the release of Daylight Is Coming with a fall headlining tour kicking off this week. The band will visit more than 25 cities nation-wide, including its native Lincoln, NB. as well as major markets Chicago, Indianapolis, and Houston.
Produced by 2008 GMA Dove Award Producer of the Year Ian Eskelin, Daylight Is Coming showcases Remedy Drive’s high-energy, piano-driven rock sound. The band’s debut music video, “Daylight”, was recently voted to No. 1 on TVU, a nation-wide, 24/7 music video television network. And as the band’s current single, “Daylight”, is also currently vying for adds at CHR radio.
David (vocals, keys, guitar), Philip (bass, vocals), Paul (guitar, vocals), and Daniel Zach (drums) originally began playing together in colleges around Lincoln, Nebraska. It wasn’t until 2003 that the band now known as Remedy Drive ventured outside its stomping grounds into territory spanning the Midwest and West Coast. In the last two years, Remedy Drive has performed more than 200 shows annually, including concerts at festivals, colleges, camps, conferences and churches. The band’s indie release, Rip Open The Skies (2005), has sold more than 20,000 copies to date. Keeping that pace, the band recently wrapped the spring 2008 “LifeLight Tour” with Building 429 and Bread of Stone. This summer, Remedy Drive appeared at major festivals including Spirit West Coast Del Mar, Spirit West Coast Monterey, Crossover, Ichthus, Higher Ground, Lifelight and Rock the Light.
