Randy Travis Awarded Best Southern, Country, Or Bluegrass Gospel Album Grammy® Award

Publish Date: Feb 14, 2007

Country music superstar Randy Travis was honoured on February 11th with a Grammy® Award for his Word Records release, Glory Train.

Adding to his five previous NARAS honors from his 20 years of professional recording, Glory Train, Randy’s fourth gospel CD, won in the category of “Best Southern, Country, or Bluegrass Gospel Album.” Two previous Word projects, Rise And Shine and Worship & Faith, have each brought him Grammy® Awards, Dove Awards and an ACM Award.

Recorded in Santa Fe and released in late 2005, the all-acoustic Glory Train mines a blend of traditional hymns, new sacred works and traditional spirituals, delivered with Randy’s signature country sound.

Randy has sold more than 24 million albums and had 22 No. 1 hits since bringing back a classic sound to country music with his 1986 debut, Storms of Life. During his career, he has garnered six Grammy Awards, in addition to multiple honors from the Country Music Association, Academy of Country Music, American Music Awards and the Gospel Music Association.

Currently, Randy is in the studio with producer Kyle Lehning (Ronnie Milsap, George Jones) recording his upcoming country studio release on Warner Bros. Records.
