Congratulations to British DJ Andy Hunter and his wife Helen. Their daughter, Evie Hope Hunter, was born December 12, 2005, weighing in at 8 pounds and 4 ounces. Everyone is doing well.
It has been a busy year for Hunter, he released the six-song EP Life on May 24, to critical acclaim. Life features a new collection of his signature ambient sound, supported by a greater use of guitars and live stringed instrumentation, and offers sonic images of Christ bringing new life to barren wasteland. The song Come On was featured on the ABC/CTV series Alias in the episode entitled “Mockingbird” and on one of the top racing video games, Burnout “Revenge”.
Earlier in the year, Hunter performed at the Microsoft-sponsored opening night party for MIDEM, Europe’s largest music expo, in Cannes, France. He was also featured at the “Digital Entertainment Anywhere” Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 launch event in Los Angeles, hosted by Microsoft Corp. chairman and chief software architect Bill Gates. Over the summer, Hunter appeared at the Cornerstone Festival’s Main Stage.
Hunter’s breakout success came with 2002’s Exodus, which produced major film, TV and video game placements for his songs Go and The Wonders of You on The Matrix: Reloaded (trailer), the movie The Italian Job, Alias and the Black Hawk Down video game, among others.
Hunter has said, “For me, being a DJ isn’t about being trendy. It’s an act of worship. The focus is on God. It’s about leading people into new places with music they haven’t heard before.”
Send your best wishes to new dad Hunter, at AndyHunter.com and check out Life and Exodus on Hunter’s YMZ artist page. Both Hunter’s projects are currently available at Canadian Christian retailers nationwide.
