Phil Stacey To Be Featured On American Idol This Week

Publish Date: Apr 01, 2008

American Idol Season 6 finalist Phil Stacey will step into the AI spotlight again this week as the subject of a special segment on FOX/CTV’s top-rated show. Fans can tune into American Idol on the FOX and CTV networks on Wednesday night, April 2nd at 9:00pm EDT.

The Idol crew caught up with Phil and his family for an extensive shoot earlier this month on a farm outside Nashville. Phil updates the show on his life since Idol, what’s going on with his family, and talks all about his self-titled debut CD, set for an April 29th release on Lyric Street Records. The segment also features fellow AI alums Bucky Covington and Bo Bice.

Phil’s debut single, “If You Didn’t Love Me”, is rapidly ascending the country chart, reaching a weekly radio audience of more than two million listeners, and the video for the hit single is receiving substantial airplay on both CMT: Country Music Television and GAC: Great American Country. Just this weekend, Phil made his Grand Ole Opry debut, taking the legendary stage to perform “If You Didn’t Love Me” and premiere additional material from his new CD. Fans can read Phil’s own account of his Opry debut by logging on to his weekly USA Today blog, found here.

Phil’s debut album pairs him with producer Wayne Kirkpatrick, the legendary songwriter best known for material recorded by Garth Brooks, Faith Hill, Babyface, Joe Cocker, Bonnie Raitt and Eric Clapton, whose version of Kirkpatrick’s “Change the World” won a Grammy® award for Song of The Year. The eleven-song CD includes the contemporary lead single, as well as songs by several of Nashville’s top tune-smiths, including Kirkpatrick, Wendell Mobley (“There Goes My Life,” “Take Me There” ), Neil Thrasher (“I Melt,” “How Forever Feels” ) and Rivers Rutherford (“Ain’t Nothing ‘Bout You,” “When I Get Where I’m Going” ).

Phil made a name for himself in 2007 when he performed for millions of viewers each week during his competition on the sixth season of American Idol. His renditions of the country hits “Where The Blacktop Ends,” “The Change,” and “I Need You” were among his most praised performances of the season. Following his time on American Idol, Phil toured with his fellow contestants over the summer on a 55 city tour before moving to Nashville, where he signed with Lyric Street Records.
