This week’s premieres feature the major label debut from Covenant Award winning and Juno nominated band, and a call for unity from one of Christian rock’s leading voices.
With a sound as diverse as its homeland, newworldson is musically re-inventing what it means to be Canadian. The band, comprised of singer-songwriter Joel Parisien, drummer Mark Rogers, bassist Rich Moore and guitarist/vocalist Josh Toal, seamlessly weaves soul, funk, reggae and Gospel into a unique tapestry.
Hailing from the Niagara region, the band was named after the New World, hinter-land of the British, French and Spanish monarchies. newworldson passionately underscores the spiritual content of its lyrics whenever they perform, encouraging fellow Christians to be committed to a life of outreach and evangelism and hoping to see all God’s children united in praise, sharing fellowship and experiencing revival.
The band won a 2007 GMA Canada Covenant Award for New Artist Of The Year while their debut, Roots Revolution, won for Best Folk/Roots Album. Roots Revolution has also been nominated for a 2008 Juno Award for Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year.
newworldson is the soundtrack to an emerging spiritual revolution, a revolution that will define 21st century history.
Over the last six years, Sanctus Real has grown into a leading voice in the new generation of Christian rock.
The band’s fourth studio release, We Need Each Other, follows Sanctus Real’s most successful album to date, The Face of Love, which gathered numerous accolades and continued a string of radio hits, including the No. 1 songs, “I’m Not Alright” and “Don’t Give Up”. While The Face of Love was inspired by real-life heartache and rediscovered joy, We Need Each Other marks a completion of that healing process and is a call for unity. It is the band’s best collection yet of explosive rock songs packed with infectious choruses and soul-stirring lyrics.
Both titles will be specially priced at $12.99 when it arrives on the shelves at your local Canadian Christian retailer this coming Tuesday, February 14th. Head over to HearItFirst.ca to hear more from these new releases.
