Nashville Symphony Names Schermerhorn Symphony Center Stage After Amy Grant

Publish Date: Sep 14, 2006

Nashville Symphony President and CEO Alan Valentine surprised Amy Grant during “An Evening with Amy Grant” last Sunday, September 10th with an announcement that the stage of the new Schermerhorn Symphony Center was being named the Amy Grant Performance Platform, in recognition of her generosity to the symphony. She helped the symphony overcome bankruptcy in the 1980s and continues to be a longtime supporter.

“Without Amy’s generosity, I dare say the Nashville Symphony may not be in existence today. She has been very kind to the orchestra, and the very least we could do is name the performance platform, a place where magic will happen at the new Schermerhorn Symphony Center, in honour of her,” said Valentine.

Grant was host to the second evening in three opening weekend galas for the Nashville Symphony’s new home, Schermerhorn Symphony Center. Among her guests were her husband, Vince Gill, LeAnn Rimes and Michael W. Smith.

Grant’s latest project is the Time Again… Live CD and the Time Again… Live: All Access DVD which will be at Canada Christian retailers in a little while (September 26th). Head over to Gran’t YMZ artist page to take a sneak peek.
