Music Industry Workshops Offered At Covenant Awards

The Canadian Gospel Music Association (CGMA) is pleased to announce that four music industry workshops will be offered in conjunction with the 27th annual Covenant Awards. The Covenant Awards will be held Saturday, October 22, 2005 in Toronto, Ontario at Canada Christian College.

Artist Management: The Most Misunderstood Job in the Music Business
Scott McReynolds, Vertical Entertainment

  • How to effectively manage an artist or yourself
  • The fundamentals of the music business
  • Tried and true methods to build your ministry
  • Road Life and how to build markets
  • How to build a long term plan

Marketing Your CD
Martin Smith, VP of Sales and Marketing, CMC Distribution

  • Martin will walk through the steps of marketing your CD to a greater audience with a step by step look at retail, the internet and concert sales. This workshop will help you effectively place your music into the hands of music fans.

Production: The basic principles of putting together an album
Leroy Harder, Slyngshot Productions and Marshall Zacharias, Avante Records

  • Preparation coming to the studio prepared for success
  • Budgets getting what you paid for
  • The process of recording
  • What to do after the project is done

Getting Radio Airplay
Jim Leek, Morning Drive Host, JOY 1250AM

  • This workshop will equip the independent artist with valuable information to keep in mind during the production process. Participants will also gain indispensable knowledge for marketing their CD to Christian radio in Canada.

Cost for the workshops:

  • CGMA members $10.00 each workshop or $20.00 for 2 or more.
  • Non-CGMA members $50.00 each workshop or $100.00 for 2 or more.
