Known and respected as a family man, Michael W. Smith recently gave his oldest daughter Whitney away in marriage to Jack Mooring. The couple met when Smith and Leeland Mooring, Jack’s younger brother, began writing for Smith’s Stand record.
The wedding took place at Michael’s farm in Franklin, Tenn., and was a touching, joyful family event.
Smith’s song, How To Say Goodbye, has been used at many weddings this year. The song was inspired by Whitney and written with long-time friend Amy Grant.” It captured my feelings of letting my little girl go off to college for the first time.It was the first time we’d been apart for an extended period of time and, because our family is very close, having her all the way across the country was pretty tough to get used to,” shares Smith.

Smith’s next release, a Christmas album, is due out in October. More information on this collection is forthcoming.
