Michael Roe, Michael Pritzl Coming To GTA

Publish Date: Nov 01, 2005

Legends of the contemporary Christian music scene, Michael Pritzl (of The Violet Burning) and Michael Roe (of the 77s and the Lost Dogs) are coming to the GTA for two live performances in November.

The two acclaimed musicians will be on the road together for the first time this fall with a rare acoustic tour. Each artist will perform a 30-minute solo set, followed by a special half-hour duo performance.

Their first concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday November 11 at Bramalea Alliance Church, 905 Central Park Drive in Brampton. Then on Saturday November 12, they’ll play in Scarborough at 7:30 p.m. at St. Timothy’s Anglican Church, 4125 Sheppard Avenue East (east of Kennedy).

The two evening shows constitute the only Canadian stops on a three leg, 40-city tour for the renowned performers. Delighted fans from Windsor to Ottawa and from as far away as New York City have expressed interest in attending.

Both men are passionate about worshipping God through music. Roe has likened his music to “a forum where I dialogue with myself and with God.” Says Pritzl, “Once you figure out that music is a gift given to worship God, that’s really all you can do. And if this music touches the heart of God and blesses the Church, then I’ve done what I’ve been put on this earth to do.”

Award-winning Canadian acoustic artist, Jay Calder will open both shows. Calder, who was voted Best Acoustic Male artist by the Toronto Independent Music Awards, recently launched his new album, Breakfast with Barnabas, distributed by Signpost Music. Christian Artist and two-time Juno Award recipient Steve Bell describes Calder as “a master at his craft,” who possesses an “energetic and percussive style.”

Tickets can be purchased in advance for $10 or for $15 at the door. To request Will Call tickets for pick-up on concert night, call the church office. For Bramalea Alliance Church, dial 905-791-1510.
