Nova Scotia native and Prarie Bible College grad Matt Brouwer’s latest release, The B-Sides Recording Vol.1, is available at Canadian Christian retailers today.
The project was birthed while Brouwer started going through some of his old college, live recordings and demos. He was reminded of the innocence and love that was shared through these songs during that time in his life and wanted to share it with his fans. These recordings further explores Brouwer’s unique brand of soul-searching, confessional folk/rock.
Brouwer first hit the Christian music scene with his Reunion Records release Imagerical, which garnered national attention with two Top 10 radio singles, two Vibe Awards and a Juno Award nomination. Imagerical was followed by the independent release Unlearning, which produced two well-received CHR singles.
I Shall Believe, one of the singles from Unlearning, debuted at #37 on Billboard Magazine’s Christian AC and CHR charts. The duet with Kendall Payne is a cover of a Sheryl Crow tune and it marks the first time that both Brouwer and Crow have graced the Christian chart either as an artist or writer.
Originally, from Truro, NS, Brouwer is currently a worship leader at Woodlands United Methodist Church in Houston, TX where he took over from Chris Tomlin in 2002.
