On the heels of her debut single, Only The World claiming the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot Singles chart for five straight weeks, Mandisa hit the Big Apple again for media appearances in support of her new book, “Idoleyes,” and her debut CD True Beauty, which releases worldwide on July 31st. This week the American Idol finalist zig-zagged across Manhattan, making the following media appearances:
Taped an episode of Live With Regis And Kelly (pictured with co-host Kelly Ripa, above top) performing Only the World to air tomorrow, July 27th (check your local listings for air times). Also there were fellow American Idol finalists Jennifer Hudson (above centre) and Kellie Picker (above lower).
Mandisa chatted it up with Seventeen.com staffers about her Idol experience and make-up tips.
Mandisa visited with SELF magazine Entertainment Director Laura Brounstein and Assistant Editor Amy Gallo for an online feature on the SELF Celeb Blog to be posted soon.
Mandisa spent the rest of her time in NY visiting the Billboard offices, filming an interview with Associated Press TV, Sirius Radio, a performance for Beliefnet.com, and CNN Showbiz Tonight when asked she discussed her thoughts on Lindsay Lohan’s recent DUI arrest and her own addiction to food, commenting, “I can absolutely relate… I can’t get arrested or really hurt anybody with my addiction of choice, which is food. I don’t believe I am any better than Lindsay is. A lot of people turn to alcohol, a lot of people turn to drugs. I’ve turned to food for a long, long time. I don’t think one is better than the other.”
Ebony magazine has been one of the first publications to praise the CD. More reviews will be appearing in People, Entertainment Weekly and others.
True Beauty will be featured on HearItFirst.ca together with Michael Neale tomorrow. The album will be spotlight priced at $17.99 or less when it arrives at participating Canadian Christian retailers this Tuesday.
