World Vision is dope!!!
The first time I was introduced to World Vision I was young and used to see that dude from Jeopardy in some 3rd world country helping out the poor. I haven’t had cable TV for a few years so I hadn’t run into them until I was at a concert last year.
After hearing the crazy statistics around the world about thousands of people dying daily and how generations could be wiped out from an AIDS epidemic it was easy to see how World Vision is needed.
I started sponsoring a child a few months ago. I sponsor a little boy named Ion from Romania. His parents can’t afford to properly provide for his needs, so it’s cool to be a part of his life, and to give to someone who less fortunate than I am.
What really spoke to me about World Vision were the people that worked for them. They were so focused on helping others and what they could do for me even, and how they just wanted to help. It was really genuine, and that’s what Jesus did: He came to serve others, not himself.
When I’m playing a show, half way between my set, I share a little bit of my testimony and what an opportunity it is to help someone else in need. World Vision makes that avenue available to us. The latest thing I’ve had shared with me is the new Hope Initiative they’re doing. It’s focused on helping with the AIDS plague that is hitting some of these 3rd world countries. 25 million people, which is almost the population of Canada, are affected by this disease. That’s crazy when you think about. I’m learning how giving is an amazing thing, and a real Godly exercise. There are so many different ways to serve people around us, and World Vision just provides another way to do that. I hope what I’ve said gives you a better understanding of what they do, and how you can help.
Peace!!! Manafest
