Hard rock mainstays Kutless have surpassed expectations by entering the Canadian Christian music charts at the top of the heap with their new worship release “Strong Tower”. While the band had previous top ten best sellers this is their first chart topper. This is also the band’s first “worship” album, which doubtlessly helped in broadening the group’s appeal.
The chart is based on actual sales at Canadian Christian retail outlets throughout Canada for the month of March. Other new entries included the debut of Jars of Clay’s new hymns project “Redemption Song” which released on March 22nd (numbers are therefore based on just over 1 week of sales), ZOEgirl with “Room To Breathe” at number 12 and Bill and Gloria Gaither with two releases at number 19 and 20.
Canadian artists continued to make up a great deal of the chart with Brian Doerksen (a former #1 album) slipping to number 8 with “Today”, Relient K’s “mmhmm” at #11, newcomers Gaetz Ave jumping to #18 from #30 last month with their self-titled debut, Hawk Nelson at #25, Brampton’s Carried Away at #28, the 2 CD Worship compilation “Sea To Sea: Filled With Your Glory” at #29, Brian Doerksen at #32 with “You Shine” and Starfield with their self-titled album at #33.
