Kevin Max Starts New Year With New Movie, New Album And Rave Reviews

Publish Date: Jan 26, 2008

In late December, Kevin Max released his latest solo album, The Blood, through his own Blind Thief label imprint. Max stepped back from his usual rock stylings in favour of a musical exploration of Gospel, complete with high-profile collaborations with an extraordinary cast, including Vince Gill, Amy Grant, American Idol finalist Chris Sligh, Joanne Cash, Erica Campbell (of Mary Mary) and a reunion of dc Talk.

The reviews are in and The Blood is receiving rave reviews:

“Kevin Max’s latest solo CD is truly an ambitious return to form in both spiritual and creative contexts… a wildly enriching and adventurous album.”
CCM Magazine

“Kevin Max never fails to surprise, but at the moment, everything that he does, however left field, seems to turn to gold… I couldn’t help but feel that I was listening to the unexpected side-project of a genius rather than a hugely anticipated major release.”
CrossRhythms UK

“Music that ls a good couple notches above the typical CCM release… If you like your records with a little pop, soul and fire, drawn together under a single vision of redemption, then this one is for you. If you don’t like your music like that, Britney Spears has a new one out, too.”
Worship Leader Magazine

“The Blood is an unpredictable, yet rewarding tour through some of Max’s favorite spiritual songs… Max sounds sincerely inspired throughout.”
HM Magazine

“Fans of rock, soul, blues, R&B, gospel and country will all find something to love here.”
Times West Virginian

“Without a doubt, one of this year’s most unique releases.”
Beautiful One Magazine

“The Blood is undoubtedly my favorite Kevin Max solo project… this CD carries a powerful and enduring redemptive message while utilizing tremendous music. This one’s a great stocking stuffer for music lovers.”

theJmanreview.com

”... one of this year’s most intriguing albums… This is an important album for gospel music, but even more, it’s important for the links to rock ‘n’ roll, blues and jazz which were all influenced by that music. Let Kevin Max take you to ‘church’!”

In February, Max will hit the road for an extensive radio and retail tour, followed by “The Blood Drive” – a headlining concert tour that will run through the end of the year. Max is currently in Texas filming the lead role for the upcoming Serendipitous Films motion picture, The Imposter. Max will play “Johnny C”, the lead singer of a faith-based, chart-topping band whose personal demons, drug addiction and ego, send him on a downward spiral until he loses everything that’s meaningful in his life.
