Canadian worship artist and songwriter Joel Augé will offer his eclectic and authentic brand of worship music with the June 3rd release of On The Blue, an Integrity Music release.
With On The Blue, Augé offers 12 songs about faith and love that are vertically inspired and deeply introspective. All are delivered on a canvas of art-rock, folk and pop by Augé, with help from producer Stephen Leiweke, who has recently been getting acclaim for his work on American Idol finalist Chris Sligh’s debut CD.
Augé promises listeners of On The Blue will experience “an authentic reflection of my heart, to say real things to God and not ‘pretty it up.’ These are truth songs. Hopefully, they will stretch people’s hearts and minds while they’re worshipping Jesus.”
North American audiences will have their chance to experience Augé’s music at several music festivals and other tour dates starting with the Alive 2008 Festival on June 17th in Canal Fulton, Ohio. He has also been invited to perform on the Main Stage at both Creation Northeast on June 25th in Mt. Union, PA and Creation Northwest on July 24th in George, WA. Other appearances include Kingdom Bound Festival on August 3rd in Darien Center, NY and the Life Light Festival on August 29th in Sioux Falls, SD.
The first radio single from On The Blue is “So Deep In Love”, for which Augé will be visiting A/C and CHR Christian radio stations around the CD’s street date. The ballad that is musically reminiscent of UK bands like Coldplay and Keane, was inspired by Ephesians 3:17-19 (so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God).
Augé (pronounced “O-jhay” ) hails from the Hamilton, Ontario area where he serves as a worship leader for The Meeting House family of churches and also runs his own digital marketing company, HitGrab, Inc.
Although On The Blue marks his solo debut, Augé is not new to music. He has been performing and recording since 1999 with the bands Capstone, Six Days and most recently, the alt-pop indie band Hewit, which has had its music featured on CTV, Lifetime Television, The Hallmark Channel and ABC.
While with Capstone, he travelled North America and the UK opening for artists such as Audio Adrenaline and Delirious? and serving as a World Vision artist associate. The band also released two CDs, Integreality and Undone, and appeared on the CD Worship Together: Live From Canada. While with Six Days, Augé released an EP in 2003.
A CD release party is scheduled for Sunday, June 1st at 7:00PM, at The Meeting House in Oakville, Ontario. The event is free. More information can be found at the YMZ Concert section. Additional information on Augé and audio samples from On The Blue can be found on his YMZ artist page. Also, video song stories for the album and Augé’s EPK can be found in the YMZ Media section.
