The month of April will have the members of multi-platinum selling band Jars of Clay looking at their past, present and future simultaneously, with honours from The Recording Academy, radio chart success and a strong slate of upcoming shows all vying for the veteran group’s attention.
The band has been named as one of the recipients for this year’s Recording Academy Honors, announced by the Nashville chapter of National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, the organization behind the GRAMMY® Awards. The gala event honouring the band, along with country trio Rascal Flatts, gospel stalwarts the Fisk Jubilee Singers and country legend Loretta Lynn, will take place tonight at the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel in Nashville.
The Recording Academy Honors events were established to honour outstanding individuals in each Chapter’s region whose work embodies excellence and integrity and who have improved the environment for the creative community.
The recognition for the band’s past work comes right alongside its current success at radio, with the most recent singles from the band’s 2006 effort Good Monsters impacting both Radio & Records’ AC (There Is A River at No. 24) and CHR (Work at No. 7) charts.
Radio programmers continue to see great result from the group’s presence on both their airwaves and their markets. “Work from Jars of Clay is living up to its name… It’s working great on the radio!” says Dave Senes, network program director at WAYM, Nashville. “All of us at WAY-FM are thrilled that our listeners will have the chance to see them perform live Labor Day weekend.”
The spring leg of the Good Monsters tour has already produced results in a number of North American cities, including Surrey and Kelowna, British Columbia; St. Catharines, Ottawa and Hamilton, Ontario with a strong slate of shows already on the books for the balance of 2007.
