Multi-platinum and multi-GRAMMY® award winning band Jars of Clay is releasing a collection of live cuts recorded while the band was on the spring and fall legs of its Good Monsters tour. The seven-song live album, Live Monsters, is in stores today.
Matt Odmark, Jars of Clay’s acoustic guitar player, explains a little more about the album. “More than any album that we have done as a band Good Monsters was meant to be played live. Live Monsters was our attempt to preserve some of the finer moments on the spring and fall legs of the Good Monsters tour. It was an amazing tour, and on this album you will find performances from our college tour across the northeast and west coast, our New England club run, and even a show from our first time back in Canada since 1996 (Surprise),” he shares. “We teamed up with the folks at Presonus and Sweetwater Sound to build one of the leanest and meanest mobile recording rigs possible. This rig enabled us to capture every show of the tour and catalogue them digitally. We owe them special thanks in the making of this project.”
On October 16th, the band will release Christmas Songs and the companion book Peace Is Here: Christmas Reflections.
Christmas Songs is the first holiday release from the band in their 12-year career, and will be the first release on their new label. The band brings new light to memorable Christmas songs such as O Little Town of Bethlehem, but also beaks new ground with their own original holiday songs such as In the Bleak Midwinter, Winter Skin and Evergreen.
Peace Is Here: Christmas Reflections is a printed collection of thoughts and reflections by the band. The essays within explore the true essence of the Advent season and what it means to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Like postcards sent from a long journey, Peace is Here marks the path of contemporary Christian life.
Fully embracing the Christmas spirit, Jars of Clay members decided to share their favourite Christmas song and childhood Christmas memory with you, as well as their favourite song from their new record Christmas Songs. Visit the band’s YMZ artist page for their stories, some Canadian tour trivia, and to hear audio clips from the upcoming albums.
Live Monsters is value priced at $9.99 or less beginning today while Christmas Songs will be spotlight priced at $17.99 or less when it arrives at participating Canadian Christian retailers on October 16th.
