Juno Award winner Greg Sczebel has done it again. He has received a nomination from one of the Canadian music industries’ most prestigious awards shows. The Western Canadian Music Awards (WCMA) has nominated Sczebel’s album Here to Stay for Outstanding Christian Recording of the Year. His Juno Award winning debut, has been quickly receiving wide attention of music fans across Canada and the United States. Combining lyrics of mature depth with an innovative sound that merges soul, funk, jazz & pop, Sczebel also recently took home a John Lennon Songwriting Award, a UMAC (Urban Music Association of Canada) nomination and 3 Shai Awards, “The People’s choice award for Canadian Gospel Music”.
The WCMA celebrates the best of western Canadian Music and will be held this year on October 23rd, 2005 in Vancouver, B.C., rounding out what has been an exciting year for Sczebel. Fans across the country saw Sczebel on a whirlwind cross Canada tour, as well as a recent stop at this year’s first ever “Encounter Ontario”, a Gospel musical event and expo held at the Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto, ON. There, Sczebel shared the stage with such musical guests as Canadian Idol Season One Runner-Up, Gary Beals, Starfield and Dove Award-winning band Casting Crowns, one of the fastest selling bands of its kind in the contemporary Christian music industry.

But the WCMA isn’t the only nod for this neo-soul artist. For the second consecutive year, Sczebel has also received an astounding four nominations for this year’s 27th Annual Covenant Awards, including Male Vocalist of the Year, Producer of the Year along with his father Jerry Sczebel, Here to Stay for Pop/Contemporary Song of the Year and Everybody for Urban Song of the Year.
