Juno and Covenant Award winner Greg Sczebel and Kelowna’s The MacGregors have been named semi-finalists in the 2005 International Songwriting Competition.

Sczebel has been named a semi-finalist in the Gospel/Christian category while the MacGregors, comprised of sisters, Alisha and Rachel, have two songs each in the Teen category. Sczebel is a semi-finalist for In The Pocket while Alisha MacGregor is pegged as writer of You and Well of Pain. Rachel MacGregor makes the list with Undying Love and I Can Hardly Breathe. In 2003, Rachel took first place in the Teen category for her song which she wrote when she was 12 years old. Alisha was a semi-finalist in the same competition for a song she wrote when she was 10.

The International Songwriting Competition (ISC) is an annual songwriting contest whose mission is to provide the opportunity for both aspiring and established songwriters to have their songs heard in a professional, international arena. Judges in this competition include MercyMe, BeBe Winans, LeAnn Rimes, Macy Gray, Loretta Lynn, Jeff Stinco (Simple Plan), John Scofield, Steve Vai among others. Winners will be announced in March.
