Gospel Music Channel Video Awards Winners Announced

tobyMac’s Boomin’ from his latest album (portable sounds) won Video of the Year Award for 2007 while videos by Mary Mary, Relient K, Chris Tomlin, Da. T.R.U.T.H. featuring Tye Tribbett, Face 2 Face and Rodney Atkins were also winners in the first-ever Gospel Music Channel Video Awards (GMCVAs) over the weekend.

The Gospel Music Channel television network created the GMCVAs to honour the top videos in six genre categories as well as the overall Top Video of the Year with winners being determined by viewers and fans through online voting at http://www.gospelmusicchannel.com. Voters chose from nominees in Rock, Country, Soul, Hip Hop, Contemporary, and Latin. Nominated videos were determined by the amount of airplay they received on Gospel Music Channel during 2007. A committee of GMC programming executives chose the Video of the Year.

Fans voted Rodney Atkins winner of the Best Country Video for Watching You; Relient K took home the Best Rock Video award for their video Must Have Done Something Right. Mary Mary’s Yesterday received the Best Soul Video Award; Who Am I by Da T.R.U.T.H. featuring Tye Tribbett nabbed the award for the Best Hip Hop Video. Chris Tomlin’s Amazing Grace was voted Best Contemporary Video and Latin sensation Face 2 Face was awarded Best Latin Video of 2007 for Que Puedo Darte.

GMCVAs encores January 3rd, 2008 at 2:00 p.m., 8:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. (ET), January 5th, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. ET, Sunday, January 6th at 4:00 p.m. ET again Wednesday, January 9th at 10:00 a.m. ET and January 10th at 9:00 p.m. ET.
