GMA Music Week 2008 Photo Journal

Publish Date: May 06, 2008

The annual GMA Music Week is an event allows attendees to experience hundreds performances from artists of all genres. It also hosts educational seminars and panels to allow one to understand the latest trends in the Christian music industry and discover new ideas. The week allows one to connect with others within the Christian music community through networking opportunities including receptions and roundtables. Plus, you never know who you’ll run into in the lobby of the Nashville Convention Center or the hallways.

This year, the event was held between April 20th-23rd. The official start of the week is the Sunday Evening Worship service which, for the past few years, has been led by Michael W. Smith. This year, guest musicians included Israel Houghton, Mandisa and a choir comprised of members from Nashville-area churches. GMA Chaplain Bishop Kenneth Dupree gave the opening prayer. As part of her opening remarks, Rebecca St. James gave a passionate appeal on behalf of Compassion International. The evening also featured a special introduction of Chaplain Bill Hawkins from the Walter Reed Medical Center.
