This week we featured a 3 CD compilation chronicling the history of Canadian Christian music and a compilation of songs from recent Passion conferences.
GMA Canada is celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Covenant Awards in 2008 and will be releasing a special commemorative collection of the History of Canadian Christian Music on January 29th.
The 3 CD set will be a definitive retrospect of Canadian Christian music and will feature artists like Brian Doerksen, Starfield, Daniel Band, Hokus Pick, Connie Scott, Rhythm & News, Thousand Foot Krutch, Hawk Nelson, Relient K, The Toronto Mass Choir, The Torchmen Quartet, Jake, downhere, The Suspenders, George Beverly Shea, Steve Bell, Carolyn Arends and many more.
With more than 45 tracks, the collection will span several decades of music and a wide variety of musical styles. The album will release in early 2008 leading up to the 30th Anniversary of the Covenant Awards being held in October in Calgary, Alberta.
Uniting thousands of university students in an effort to make God’s fame known in the campuses and churches of the nation, the Passion movement continues to gain momentum. This fall, the movement launched Passion Regional: USA gatherings across the country. These gatherings happen in Boston and Chicago in the fall and continue in Los Angeles, Dallas, Washington DC and Atlanta through spring.
In celebration of this moment and in preparation of Passion: World Tour 2008, set to begin in May ’08, sixsteps records presents Passion’s latest album. Highlighting some of the best moments of both Passion ’07 in Atlanta (with over 23,000 university students) and the USA regional events, the album will feature new music from Chris Tomlin, David Crowder*Band, Charlie Hall, Matt Redman, Christy Nockels, Fee and others.
God Of This City will be available at Canadian Christian retailers on Tuesday while the GMA Canada 30th Anniversary CCD will be available later this month. Head over to HearItFirst.ca to hear more from these new releases.
