Alberta’s Gaetz Ave leads the nomination list for the 27th Annual Covenant Awards with eight nominations including four nominations for the duo and a further four nominations for lead vocalist/song writer Danielle Heykants.

The Red Deer group scored nominations for Artist of the Year, New Artist of the Year, Group of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year (Heykants) and Song of the Year (Heykants), Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year, Urban Song of the Year (Heykants and fellow Gaetz Ave member Benjamin Mullen) and Pop/Contemporary Song of the Year (Heykants) during announcements held Tuesday September 20th in Toronto. Assisting with the announcements were Canadian artists Carried Away, Hetti-Marie and N.I.F.T.Y. who read off the nominations at Mitchell’s Family Bookstore in Etobicoke.

Other multiple award nominees included: Thousand Foot Krutch, Matthew Thiessen (as a song writer and as a member of Relient K), Carolyn Arends and Carried Away with five nominations each. Brian Doerksen, Maralee Dawn, Greg Sczebel, Hawk Nelson and Shezza received four nods a piece. The 27th Annual Covenant Awards will be held October 22nd in Toronto at the McVety Centre located on the campus of Canada Christian College.
