For Zion’s Sake, I Will Not Be Silent, the new CD releasing to Canadian Christian retail on May 1st from the Galilee of The Nations label, will celebrate music with a common love of Israel and the Jewish heritage from artists in creative alliance from three distinct areas of the world – Germany, the United States and Israel.
The song The Forgotten People was the official theme song of the 2007 March Of Life held last week in Germany, an event staged to draw world attention to the reality of the holocaust and the Jewish “death march” to Dachau during World War II. The event, birthed by German pastor Jobst Bittner, this year included the partnership of Galilee of The Nations as an official music ministry partner. The four day observance culminated on April 15th with the solemn remembrance in Germany of Holocast Memorial Day (Yom Ha Shoah).
For Zion’s Sake, I Will Not Be Silent is the co-creation of Galilee of The Nations label founder Yochanan Ben Yehuda and co-producer Jerry Marcellino. The project was born out of the label production team’s desire to release an album of music as a unique support and celebration of Israel in the current world climate.
Yochanan noted in a recent interview, “Things began to come into focus for me after studying Isaiah chapter 62. The first verse said it all. ‘For Zion’s sake, I will not be silent, for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest until her righteous goes forth as brightness and her salvation as a lamp that burns.’ I knew what the title of the new album would be, and I knew that I could not stay silent… that I must speak out through the music against the great injustice to Israel that we are so clearly seeing in today’s headlines.”
The new album contains a total of 19 tracks, 16 of them new songs from ten artists on the Galilee of the Nations label. Artists include Ted Pearce, Lamb, Evan Levine, Zemer Levav, Kathy Shooster, Karen Davis, Rachel Washington, Heartsville, Meha Shamayim, Jordan Marcellino, and Jobst Bittner.
