Best-selling author and pastor of Mosaic in Los Angeles, Erwin Raphael McManus releases Crave, a new short film series created by Awaken and Indelible Creative Group. The three-disc box set is inspired by themes from McManus’ latest book, Soul Cravings.
Crave uses the visual storytelling medium of film to reveal the hidden mysteries of the human soul, mysteries that unveil the unmistakable fingerprints of God in all of us. This stunning new series of short films can be used in any context to communicate these spiritual truths in a revolutionary new way.
This unique short film series features three DVDs, each centered on a soul craving identified in McManus’ book: Meaning, Destiny and Intimacy. Each disc includes a short film produced by Awaken, showcasing talent from Mosaic’s congregation of Hollywood writers, actors and directors. Included on the DVDs are teachings from McManus. The intent is to communicate spiritual truth in a relevant and entertaining way.
“Films not only entertain us but can inspire us to believe in the possibility that we too can live a story worth telling,” says McManus. “For years we have searched for a partner with a vision for visual storytelling. We have finally found that and more with Indelible. Short films are an untapped genre for communicating values and inspiring life change. Awaken is thrilled to introduce a new medium that not only entertains but also inspires and challenges us to a new way to be human.”
The first film in the series, Pop Star, was written and directed by Nathan Scoggins and tells the story of a British pop artist who lands in the emergency room after his hair catches fire on-stage. Midnight Clear, directed by Kristin Ross, portrays an unsuspecting family who becomes refuge for an escaped convict. Finally, Nameless Moment, directed by Kevin Sage, is about a young man who views life as nothing more than a series of random meaningless events. He meets a confidant who changes his perspective on life forever.
President and co-founder of Indelible Creative Group, Chris Thomason, comments, “Jesus led the way as an example for us to truly take God’s ways and apply them to our life through stories. The Crave series takes these same principles and I believe will truly compel people to passionately pursue God and learn to live their own story.
