The nominees for the East Coast Music Awards were announced recently in Charlottetown, P.E.I. Nominess for Gospel Recording of the Year include:

• Paralyzed From the Soul Up – The Contact
  
• Angels in the House – Evangeline Inman
  
• Family – Stephanie Mainville
  
• Always There – The Quintons
  

The ECMAs will take place in Charlottetown, P.E.I., February 23rd to 27th and will culminate in the ECMA Gala Awards Show, broadcast on CBC Television, Monday, February 27th, starting at 8:00PM in all time zones (8:30 NT).

During the week’s festivities, Mainville has also been invited to perform at the ECMA “Girls Night Out” Showcase at the Delta Prince Edward Main stage on Friday, February 24th while The Contact has been invited to perform at the “From Roots To Rock” Showcase at the Delta Prince Edward Main stage on Sunday, February 26th. Tom Jackson, the leading live consultant in the Contemporary Christian music industry, will be presenting two seminars, one on Saturday, February 25th and Monday, February 27th. Just two months after its release in July 2005, The Contact’s Paralyzed From The Soul Up was also nominated for “Rock Album of the Year” at the 2005 Canadian Gospel Music Association’s (CGMA) Covenant Awards, Canada’s equivalent to the Dove Awards. The band recently returned from a Coast to Coast national tour and was selected as one of three finalists for the Extreme Band Slam Atlantic Finals.

Mainville picked up two Covenant Award nominations last fall for her debut release, Family, and was awarded Canada’s “Instrumental Song of the Year” at the 2005 Covenant Awards. The New Brunswick Gospel Music Hall of Fame nominated Stephanie as “Instrumentalist of the Year” at the 2005 Mercy Awards.

In other categories, Canadian Idol Season One runner-up, Gary Beals, was nominated for African-Canadian Recording of the Year for his self-titled debut album.
