Live at Long Hollow, the debut DVD from Christian music’s premier Big Band, Denver & The Mile High Orchestra, is slated for release February 14th. Produced and directed by Russell Hall (John Tesh, The Crabb Family), the DVD was recorded at group founder and bandleader Denver Bierman’s home church, Long Hollow Baptist, in Hendersonville, Tennessee.
Live at Long Hollow features nearly two hours of concert performances of such Denver & The Mile High Orchestra signature songs as Act The Scat, Stand, Get Down, The Real Deal, and Glory Forever, among other selections, as well as Big Band arrangements of the hymns It Is Well and All Hail The Power. Bonus features include an interview with Bierman, acoustic performances of five songs, behind the scenes footage and a bloopers segment.
“Live at Long Hollow is undoubtedly the most high-energy project I have ever worked on,” said Russell Hall, DVD producer/director. “What makes it so unique is that there is nothing on the market like it, and even if there was, it wouldn’t have the energy that Denver and his band have. This two-disc set was shot with 10 cameras, and with some of the same crew that work on productions such as The CMA Awards and ‘The Amazing Race.’”
Formed by Bierman at Nashville’s Belmont University in 1999, Denver & The Mile High Orchestra feature 12 members, comprised of trumpet, trombone, saxophone and rhythm sections. The group’s previous recordings include 2004’s Good To Go and Timeless Christmas, 2002’s Stand, and the band’s debut, Act The Scat, which released in 2000.
Denver & The Mile High Orchestra served as the house band for last year’s 36th Annual GMA Music Awards. The group has also performed at events surrounding two Olympics—Salt Lake City’s Winter Games in 2002 and the Summer Games in Athens, Greece, in 2004—and maintains an extensive touring schedule, which is highlighted each year by their popular Christmas tour. Media coverage of the band has included USA Today, CNN Radio and the Associated Press, among many other outlets.
