Demon Hunter’s The Triptych tops the Billboard “Heatseekers” chart this week with an astonishing #1 debut. The band’s third album landed on the pop charts at #136 and sold nearly doubled the first week debut of last year’s Summer Of Darkness.
The news arrives as Demon Hunter completed a whirlwind week in California supporting the album’s release at in-store autograph sessions and shooting a video for the album’s first single in Los Angeles.
Director Christopher Sims, whose credits include videos for Lamb Of God, As I Lay Dying, Norma Jean, Bleeding Through, Throwdown and Eighteen Visions, took the reigns for Undying shot on location in Southern California.
Demon Hunter fills a void left by seminal spirit-filled metal bands like Living Sacrifice, infusing crushing riffage with unashamedly melodic bursts of power. “The Triptych” expands the blueprint laid down by “Summer Of Darkness” and their self-titled debut, looking back to the bands they grew up on like Machine Head, Pantera and Sepultura.
Successful artists in many fields, the band’s founders Ryan and Don Clark refuse to release anything that doesn’t meet the absolute highest standards of quality. “The Triptych” was produced by Aaron Sprinkle (Emery), mixed by Machine (Lamb Of God, White Zombie), and featured three different covers painted by Dan Seagrave (Morbid Angel, Suffocation).
The band debut an excellent new album site, The Third War, where you can unlock hidden content (including a bonus acoustic song) and more. Audio samples from “The Tryptich” can be found on the band’s YMZ artist page. The album is specially priced at $17.99 at Canadian Christian retailers.
