Critics Applaud Building 429’s “Iris To Iris”

Publish Date: Jun 01, 2007

Award-winning pop rock band, Building 429 returned to Nashville after a month-long promotional tour in support of its latest project, Iris to Iris. Released May 1st, the album has received excellent critical reviews, praising Building 429’s evolved sound and new stylistic approach.

Produced by Brown Bannister (MercyMe, The Afters, Steven Curtis Chapman, Third Day) and mixed by F. Reid Shippen (India.Arie, Johnny Lang,) Iris to Iris has set a new standard for future Building 429 releases. All Music Guide calls Iris to Iris “an impressive forward step for the group” and praises Building 429’s “refined sound”. ChristianityToday.com hails the album as “a quantum leap forward for the band stylistically,” commenting on its “conviction” and “lyrical maturity.” Even CCM Magazine agrees that Iris to Iris “takes its [Building 429’s] artistry to a new level,” describing the record as “a sonic feast—musically textured and lyrically substantive.”

The first single from Iris to Iris, You Carried Me, is currently in the Top 20 at Christian Adult Contemporary radio. Also, the band will be appearing at all major summer festivals including Collide Festival, Crossover Festival, Alive Festival, KLTY Celebrate Freedom, Lifest, SoulFest, Spirit West Coast, Youth Fest, Revelation Generation 2007 and LifeLight Festival.

Currently comprising Jason Roy (lead vocals, guitar), Jesse Garcia (guitar, keyboard), and Michael Anderson (drums), Building 429 released its national bow, Space In Between Us, in 2004. The project’s debut single, Glory Defined, set multiple radio records and hit the No. 1 position on eight different radio charts. The song climbed to number one on Christian Radio Weekly’s Adult Contemporary chart faster than any other single in the publication’s history, remaining there for ten consecutive weeks. On Radio & Records, Glory Defined was the first single from a debut artist to hold 100% of the Adult Contemporary panel all at the same time, and only the second time for any artist, debut or veteran.
