This week’s premieres feature a group with a Superbowl-winning player and an album written from a mother’s perspective.
From the heart of the midwest comes the new acoustic pop/rock duo Connersvine with their self-titled debut album.
Grounded in years of college ministry, Hunter Smith and Chris Wilson deliver their signature stamp of worship for today’s church. From up-tempo worship songs Glory Be and I Want To Live For You to the touching, tender moments of Hero, a song about setting an example for children in the way we live by ultimately pointing them to God as the perfect example.
Raised with a great appreciation for music, Wilson began playing guitar at the age of ten and already helping on the worship team at his local church by the time he was in middle school. Through his passion for both God and musical expression, Chris has continued to develop his skills as a musician, songwriter, artist, and worship leader. Born and raised in Sherman, Texas, Smith has shared the same passions, as well as a talent in football. Hunter Smith graduated from Notre Dame University and went on to be drafted in the NFL by the Indianapolis Colts. Now starting his eighth season with the Superbowl XLI Champions, football provides him with a great platform to share his faith with others.
Blink became another extraordinary rite of passage, a Plumb reflection on a life-changing phase of the journey, this time with fittingly delicate, largely programmed musical embroidery replacing the normal rock setting. Her long-time programmer and occasional co-writer, Jeremy Bose, handled production and co- wrote three songs. Long-time producer Matt Bronleewe co-wrote three as well.
The album’s ten songs include two covers, an ethereal take on the centuries-old God Will Take Care of You, and the lovely Children of the Heavenly Father. The originals may rank among the purest expressions of the tender joys of motherhood ever recorded, reflecting the rapture of a woman rooted in and yet transported by the experience of new life. Songs like My Sweet, My Lovely, Me and Solomon’s Song reflect the intense intimacy and joy of motherhood. And yet, it wouldn’t be Plumb without the trepidation, the acknowledgement that in the world every child enters, sorrow is as real as joy, and pain as persistent as pleasure. Songs like In My Arms, the album’s first single, and Always carry within their beauty a recognition of the limits of maternal love.
Plumb’s music has appeared in television shows ranging from Dawson’s Creek, Felicity, ESPN’s March Madness and more. Major motion pictures and soundtrack exposure include Bruce Almighty, Just Married, The Story of Us, Loser, View From the Top, Drive Me Crazy, The Perfect Man and most recently Evan Almighty.
Connersvine is priced at $17.99 or less while Hello & Goodbye is specially priced at $15.99 or less at participating Canadian Christian retailers now. Head over to HearItFirst.ca.
