This week’s premieres include a project that hopes to end worldwide suffering and another that sees the reunion of almost all members of an illustrious vocal group.

CompassionArt is a charity based in Littlehampton, England that is dedicated to seeing works of art generate income for the relief of suffering around the planet. Christian music’s most accomplished songwriters joined forces as the CompassionArt writers team, and at a retreat in ‘07 collaborated with the common goal to write and record songs that could be used to change the world by donating all proceeds to charity.

Following the retreat, CompassionArt songwriters teamed up with renowned vocalists like Amy Grant, tobyMac, Leeland Mooring and many others to record songs in February ‘08 at Abbey Road Studions in London, England and Nashville, Tennessee in March 2008.

With 15 songs now recorded and finished, CompassionArt is setting out to accomplish something our industry has been waiting for… The most well-known artists in Christian music today collaborating on one CD/DVD giving all of the proceeds to charity in an effort to help change the world.

The DVD contains a 51 minute documentary on the making of the CompassionArt project and other videos.

Since their start in 1981, the award-winning Gaither Vocal Band has blazed a trail through the world of Gospel music that has forever raised the standard in four-part male harmony. Now, for the first time ever, past and present group members join together in this two-volume Gaither Vocal Band Reunion to celebrate more than a quarter-century of songs which document their rich legacy.

Hosted by Bill Gaither, this historic gathering includes a treasury of great music, countless stories, moving performances, and power-packed harmonies that feature some of the finest voices in Gospel music history, including Gary McSpadden, Steve Green, Lee Young, Larnelle Harris, Jim Murray, Jon Mohr, Michael English, Buddy Mullins, Mark Lowry, David Phelps, Russ Taff, Guy Penrod, Marshall Hall and Wes Hampton.

Volume 1 and Volume 2 are both available in CD and DVD formats. Each DVD will contain one extra song.
