Publish Date: Mar 20, 2008

Fans of critically acclaimed comedienne Anita Renfroe, described as “this generation’s Erma Bombeck,” will have the opportunity to see their favourite YouTube “Phe-mom” regularly on ABC’S “Good Morning America.” Renfroe recently signed a national television agreement with the popular, top-rated morning show to become part of the “Good Morning America” family and will appear as a regular segment contributor throughout 2008. Following the debut of her “Bad Hair Days” segment on February 15th, Renfroe’s most recent appearance on Monday, March 10th may be viewed at ABC News.

Known for her estrogen flavoured musical comedy and slightly offbeat take on All Things Female, Renfroe’s first appearance on “Good Morning America” took place last October after a YouTube clip from her Total Momsense video, the 2 minute 55 second song about motherhood to the tune of the “William Tell Overture,” went viral. Now seen by over 15 million viewers, the video clip (also seen at YMZ’s Media section), along with Renfroe’s unique wit and personality, was embraced by the “Good Morning America” audience and staff resulting in subsequent appearances, including “the Breakfast Club” segment with host Diane Sawyer and “Anita’s Estrogen Theatre.” In upcoming comedy segments, Renfroe, as a special contributor, will address issues important to women and crucial to everyday life, such as beauty, mammograms, pantyhose, the ignominy of sweat-suits, fighting for carts at the grocery store, menopausal side effects, etc.

“Once she (Anita) was here on the couch sitting with Diane (Sawyer) and Robin (Roberts) and instantly comfortable, you just knew,” Margo Baumgart, a senior broadcast producer for ABC, said of Renfroe in a recent New York Times feature about the comedienne. “She gets inside the mind of American women. She gets inside moms of all ages. She says the things you think but don’t say. Bottom line, you want to be Anita’s best friend.”

Renfroe adds, “I am so delighted to be a part of the ‘Good Morning America’ family, although it feels a bit surreal. It’s like one day I was in my bathrobe, eating my bagel, drinking my coffee and watching ‘Good Morning America’ in my kitchen and then ‘poof!’ someone pushed me through to the inside of the TV.They still have the bagels and coffee on the ‘Good Morning America’ set,so the only difference is that I’m not allowed to wear my bathrobe on that side of the camera.”

In addition to “Good Morning America” and The New York Times, Renfroe has been featured by such top media outlets as “Dr.Phil,” CBS’s “The Early Show,” Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” XM Satellite Radio Network’s “Oprah & Friends,” Inside Edition, and others. She has also performed in front of more than 400,000 women during the 2007 Women of Faith’s Amazing Freedom conferences, and will again be a featured speaker during this year’s Women of Faith 2008 Infinite Grace conferences hitting 29 cities across the U.S.
